Not like us

It is suggested that we should not be xenophobic. But, being American, it isn't practical.

I lived in a small community in Wisconsin for several years. It was the xenophobic capital where all change, even that which was in their pockets, was frightening to them. Outsiders were not welcome because we were the ones that brought those dreaded changes (new ideas) to their community and changed how their children thought about the outside world.
Change - good. Stagnation - bad.
